Job Description

All Hands and Hearts is seeking an experienced Senior Nutrition Advisor to lead the design, delivery and quality of its emergency nutrition programming in Gaza. Acute malnutrition among children under five and pregnant and lactating women has risen sharply amid prolonged conflict, displacement and severe restrictions on food access. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership on nutrition across All Hands and Hearts' humanitarian response, ensure programs meet international standards, and represent the organization with the Nutrition Cluster, UN agencies, donors and partner NGOs. The Advisor will also help integrate nutrition into AHAH's wider food distribution, community health, shelter and education programs, and build the capacity of local staff and community health workers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Serve as AHAH's lead technical expert on nutrition in emergencies, setting program strategy and ensuring all nutrition activities align with Sphere standards, Nutrition Cluster guidance and Ministry of Health protocols.
  • Program Design and Delivery: Design, launch and oversee nutrition interventions, which may include community-based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM), MUAC screening and referral, supplementary feeding, micronutrient supplementation, and infant and young child feeding in emergencies (IYCF-E).
  • Integration with Food Assistance: Advise AHAH leadership and logistics teams on the nutritional adequacy of food baskets and distributions, targeting of vulnerable groups, and safe handling of specialized nutrition commodities (RUTF, RUSF, LNS).
  • Assessment and Surveillance: Lead or support nutrition assessments, screening campaigns and surveillance (including SMART-style surveys where feasible) to identify needs, track trends and guide program decisions.
  • Coordination and Representation: Represent AHAH in the Nutrition Cluster and relevant working groups; build partnerships with UNICEF, WFP, WHO, health facilities and local NGOs to strengthen referral pathways and avoid duplication.
  • Capacity Building: Train and mentor AHAH staff, partner organizations and community health workers on nutrition screening, counseling, IYCF-E and the Code on breastmilk substitutes.
  • Monitoring, Reporting and Accountability: Develop indicators and monitoring tools, ensure quality data collection, and report program results to AHAH leadership and donors. Ensure feedback and accountability mechanisms are in place for affected communities.
  • Resource Mobilization: Contribute technical content to proposals, budgets and donor reports for institutional and private donors (e.g., USAID/BHA successor mechanisms, ECHO, UN pooled funds, foundations and Gulf donors).
  • Qualifications & Experience

  • MD or Master's degree in Public Health, Nursing, Nutrition, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in health or nutrition programming, including at least 5 years in humanitarian or emergency settings.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in nutrition programming.
  • Proven experience managing teams, training staff and working through local partners.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and representation skills.
  • Language requirements: Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).
  • Candidates must be willing to undergo a thorough background and security check prior to a final offer. Must demonstrate commitment to neutrality and community service.
