INARA areas of intervention include comprehensive medical services, mental health and psychosocial support, education in emergencies, economic empowerment, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) initiatives, and rapid emergency response. INARA emphasizes long-term care, ensuring that children receive continuous treatment and rehabilitation.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Pathologist must be an experienced physician, knowledgeable in all laboratory and clinical procedures with an extensive background in pathology. The position requires testing and analyzing samples to diagnose various diseases. The pathologist must have experience using clinical equipment to conduct tests, with the ability to research the results. Pathologist must also be team player and perform the pathology laboratory quality control protocols to assure high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinated and followed up with external laboratories regarding sample processing and test results to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Support in the establishment and operational setup of the laboratory unit at INARA Clinic, including workflow development, coordination with laboratory service providers, and implementation of quality and reporting procedures.
- Interpreted laboratory findings, prepared diagnostic reports, and collaborated with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient care and treatment decisions.
- Examine tissue samples, blood, and body fluids under microscopes and with laboratory technologies.
- Interpret laboratory test results and prepare diagnostic reports.
- Perform autopsies to determine causes of death (in some pathology specialties).
- Consult with healthcare professionals about patient diagnoses.
- Ensure laboratory quality control and compliance with medical standards.
- Supervise laboratory staff, including technicians and technologists.
- Participate in medical research and teaching, depending on the workplace.
- Complete accurate patient records (using KoboTool or other system in place).
- Contribute to daily service reports, including number of test and key surveillance trends.
- Support monitoring of disease patterns and emerging health concerns.
- Ensure information confidentiality, informed consent, and respectful communication.
- Adhere strictly to INARA’s safeguarding policies, medical ethics, and code of conduct.
- Report any safeguarding or protection concerns immediately through established channels.The Pathologist must adhere to all organizational safeguarding, child protection, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), and professional ethics policies. The post holder is expected to maintain the highest standards of integrity and professionalism at all times.
- Bachelor's degree in pathology.
- Valid medical license to practice pathology.
- Optional fellowship training in a subspecialty.
- Minimum three years experience in lab. Testing and pathology.
- Experience in outpatient lab analysis services.
- Experience in safe use of the lab equipment and consumables
- Experience in humanitarian, low-resource, or emergency settings is an advantage.
