Development of Accessible and Inclusive Materials for the Tareeq Platform
1. Background
The Arab Women Organization of Jordan (AWO), in partnership with Associazione Italiana Donne per lo Sviluppo ETS (AIDOS) and Vento di Terra ETS (VdT), is implementing Phase II of the project “No Woman Left Behind: Gender-Based Violence and Disability – Transforming Vulnerabilities into Abilities”, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
The project aims to improve access to integrated protection and gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response services for vulnerable women and girls, including women and girls with disabilities, among Syrian refugee and vulnerable Jordanian communities in Jordan.
As part of the project, AWO manages the Tareeq Platform, an innovative digital platform developed to facilitate access to essential protection services and information, particularly for women in vulnerable situations and persons with disabilities.
To improve the accessibility and inclusiveness of the platform, AWO seeks to contract a qualified consultant or firm specialized in developing accessible and inclusive materials for deaf persons and persons with visual impairments.
2. Purpose of the Assignment
The purpose of this consultancy is to develop five sets of accessible and inclusive materials that enhance the usability of the Tareeq Platform and improve access to information and services for deaf persons and persons with visual impairments.
The assignment aims to ensure that the platform is more inclusive, user-friendly, and accessible for persons with disabilities through adapted digital content and communication tools
3. Scope of Work
The consultant/firm will be responsible for developing accessible and inclusive materials related to the Tareeq Platform and available protection services.
The assignment includes the development and production of five complete sets of accessible and inclusive materials related to:
- Access to protection and GBV services
- Awareness of available services through the Tareeq Platform
- Guidance on using the platform
- Referral and support information
- Awareness and empowerment content (including advice related to job seekers, and guidance on how to start and scale up home-based businesses or income-generating activities) relevant to women and girls with disabilities.
- Sign language interpretation
- Captioning and subtitles
- Clear visual communication methods
- Accessible and easy-to-understand content formats
- Audio recordings and voice-over materials
- Accessible text formatting
- Audio-friendly informational content
- Clear and inclusive narration
- Coordinate closely with AWO project staff throughout the assignment
- Incorporate feedback and revisions when required
- Ensure that all materials are culturally appropriate, inclusive, and aligned with accessibility standards
- Deliver final materials in formats suitable for upload and dissemination through the Tareeq Platform and social media channels if needed
- Proven experience in developing accessible and inclusive materials
- At least 5 years of Experience in producing sign language and disability-inclusive content
- Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive communication standards in Jordan and at international level
- Previous experience working with NGOs, humanitarian organizations, or protection/GBV-related projects is considered an asset
- Ability to communicate effectively in Arabic and English

The selected consultant/firm will work closely with the AWO team in the development and adaptation of the content to ensure that the materials are contextually appropriate, accessible, and responsive to the needs of women and girls with disabilities

4. Expected Deliverables
The consultant/firm is expected to deliver:
1. Five finalized sets of accessible and inclusive materials 2. Editable source files of all developed materials 3. Final digital versions optimized for online publication and platform integration
5. Duration of Assignment
The consultancy assignment is expected to be completed within a maximum period of three weeks from the date of contract signature. The timeframe includes consultations and coordination meetings with AWO, production of the required materials, incorporation of feedback and revisions, and final submission of all deliverables.
6. Duty Station
The assignment will be primarily home-based, with meetings conducted at AWO offices in Amman or Mafraq when needed.

8. Supervision and Coordination
The consultant/firm will work under the direct supervision of the Arab Women Organization of Jordan (AWO) and coordinate closely with the project team and relevant stakeholders.
9. Budget
The assignment will be conducted in accordance with the approved project budget and based on the submitted financial proposal. A 5% withholding tax will be deducted from the total consultancy amount in accordance with applicable regulations.
